ERA co-organized a prestigious workshop of NATO scientists at Palacky University in Olomouc
ERA in cooperation with the University of Defence Brno (UNOB) helped to organize a joint meeting for two scientific panels of the NATO Science & Technology Organization (STO). The event attended by the members of Systems Concepts and Integration (SCI) and Sensing Technology (SET) Panels was held in university city of Olomouc, Czech Republic.
The gathering of STO scientists was invited by the organization´s Czech national representatives: ERA expert for product development and strategy Vojtěch Stejskal and ERA´s long term collaborator from UNOB, and hosted by the Philosophical Faculty of the Palacky University. It was supported by university officials and students, helping to run this prestigious event smoothly. Two dozen students thus obtained valuable experience with international scientific meeting of this kind.
The meeting was attended by 120 representatives from NATO member countries, including top defence research experts, analysts, and representatives of international research structures. The meeting featured nine workshops on dedicated topics with an effort to identify areas of research reflecting NATO's current needs to respond more quickly to challenges from the battlefield.
„Building trusted networks is key to the kind of International NATO S&T cooperation that the Collaborative Programme of Work (CPoW) facilitates. Our Czech colleagues hosted the meeting in an excellent way and in such an inspiring location,“ stated John-Mikal Stordal, Director of STO.
The STO is the primary NATO organization for defence science and technology. The STO’s mission is to promote and conduct co-operative research and information exchange within NATO and with its partners. NATO SCI and SET Panels´ meetings are usually held twice a year and the organization is gradually taken over by individual NATO member states. Given their number, the Czech Republic becomes host of the event approximately once every fifteen years.
