ERA has signed a contract to deliver its WAM system to cover the southern part of Kyrgyzstan´s airspace

ERA and State Enterprise “Kyrkgyzaeronavigatsia” (ANSP of Kyrgyzstan) have signed a contract for a delivery of Wide Area Multilateration System (WAM) covering the southern part of the airspace of the Kyrgyz Republic. ERA will provide Air Traffic Control solution based on its MSS-5 multilateration system. The contract was signed at ERA boost within the trade fair Airspace World 2026 in Lisbon, on May 26.

ERA will deliver its proven MSS-5 WAM system to Kyrgyzstan for its long-term partner SE “Kyrgyzaeronavigatsia”. The project supports Kyrgyzaeronavigatsia’s development strategy aimed at enhancing the safety and security of ever-growing air traffic in the Kyrgyz Republic.

The newly delivered system will consist of the net of several ground stations and one Central Processing Unit, creating a new surveillance cluster in the southern region of the country. The system will provide enhanced air traffic surveillance coverage in difficult-to-access areas and further strengthen Kyrgyzstan’s air navigation coverage.

ERA’s technology was selected through a tender process, reflecting its reliability in challenging environments and ERA’s long-standing experience with deployments in mountainous regions, particularly in Central Asia and the Caucasus.
There has been already WAM system by ERA in operation covering the TMA of Osh International Airport and two main flight corridors en-route towards the borders with Kyrgyzstan’s neighbours. There are ERA surveillance systems deployed in neighbouring countries Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and China as well.

The landlocked Kyrgyz Republic has a recorded history spans over 2,000 years. Although geographically isolated by its highly mountainous terrain Kyrgyzstan has been at the crossroads of several great civilizations as part of the so-called Silk Road.
